Resy prints flat monthly prices and says it charges no cover fees. OpenTable sells three plans and says it has 200+ partners. How to pick.

Pick Resy if you want one flat monthly fee with no per-cover charges, and many of your guests carry American Express cards. Pick OpenTable if you want a wide choice of tools that plug into your book, such as an AI phone agent that takes bookings by call; OpenTable says it has more than 200 partners. Both handle reservations, waitlists, deposits and floor plans.

The choice matters most in two places. The first is the bill. Resy charges a fixed monthly price. OpenTable's invoices can also list billable covers, so part of the cost moves with how many guests book through its network. The second is which diners see you, since each company sends its own app users to the restaurants on it.

Resy's plans and prices come from [Resy's plans and pricing page](https://resy.com/join/plans-pricing/), which also says standard payment processing fees apply. OpenTable's plan descriptions come from its [help article on plans and add-ons](https://support.opentable.com/s/article/Manage-Add-Ons-directly-on-OpenTable-for-Restaurants?language=en_US), which sends readers to the plans page for pricing. Its [billing help](https://support.opentable.com/s/article/Manage-your-billing-in-OpenTable?language=en_US) describes invoices with a downloadable list of billable covers.

## How do Resy and OpenTable charge?

Resy's FAQ says it charges no per-cover fees and no fee per reservation; you pay one monthly fee. The Tock-based plans add a percentage on prepaid tickets.

OpenTable sells a plan and bills some covers on top. Its [help page on Facebook and Instagram booking](https://support.opentable.com/s/article/Adding-your-OpenTable-Booking-Link-to-Facebook-and-Instagram-Profiles?language=en_US) says covers booked through those buttons are billed as Restaurant Network covers. Ask OpenTable which sources are billable on the plan you pick, and at what rate, before you compare totals.

Use this worksheet to put both on one line. The Resy figures are its printed prices. Fill the OpenTable column from its plans page or your quote.

Cost line, 12 months Resy Platform OpenTable plan you are quoted
  Plan fee $289 × 12 = $3,468 Plan price × 12
Per-cover charges None listed by Resy Billable covers a month × rate × 12
Add-ons you need Platform 360 adds $170 a month ($2,040 a year) Add-ons such as Premium Communications on Core
Payment processing Standard processing fees Stripe fees for card holds and deposits

OpenTable's help center says [Stripe is required for card holds and deposits](https://support.opentable.com/s/article/Manage-your-own-Cancellations-and-No-shows?language=en_US), and that [Premium Communications](https://support.opentable.com/s/article/Manage-Add-Ons-directly-on-OpenTable-for-Restaurants?language=en_US) comes with Pro and is a monthly add-on for Core.

## Which Resy plan fits if you sell prepaid tickets?

Tock Essential and Tock Premium differ by $170 a month and by one point on the prepayment fee. Premium costs less once prepayments pass $17,000 a month, because 1% of $17,000 is $170.

A worked example with a made-up figure: a tasting-menu room that takes $10,000 a month in prepayments pays $300 in fees on Essential and $200 on Premium. Essential totals $289 + $300 = $589; Premium totals $459 + $200 = $659. Essential is $70 a month cheaper at that volume. Standard card processing is extra on both.

## Which diners will see your restaurant?

Each company publishes its own figures. [Resy's business page](https://resy.com/join/) says it has more than 60 million registered users worldwide and more than 20,000 restaurants and venues, with Tock adding more than 5,000. Its Resy Credit gives eligible American Express card members a statement credit at US Resy restaurants.

In [August 2026, Resy added Tock venues to its app](https://blog.resy.com/newsroom/resy-welcomes-tock-restaurants-wineries-experiences/), and said select Tock restaurants would qualify for the Resy Credit from September 15, 2026.

OpenTable's [August 26, 2026 press release](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/opentable-launches-its-largest-suite-of-new-and-updated-product-features-for-restaurants-302860569.html) says it helps more than 70,000 restaurants fill 2 billion seats a year. It lists integrations with Google Search, Maps and Gemini, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity and Amazon's Alexa+, and an AI Concierge for diners with more than 500,000 monthly active users. These are the companies' own figures.

Check your own numbers before either company's. Count last month's bookings by source. If most came from your website and Google, the bill matters more than the network.

## Which one connects to your other tools?

OpenTable says in the same release that it has more than 200 partners and more than 20 voice AI partners, the tools that answer calls and book tables. It also offers a [guestbook export](https://support.opentable.com/s/article/Export-your-Guestbook?language=en_US) to CSV, which matters if you ever leave.

Resy's [integrations page](https://resy.com/join/integrations/) groups partners into POS and event systems, discovery, CRM, analytics, and winery and ecommerce tools. It says POS links pass check data, prepayments and deposits. Ask Resy for the named partners in each group; the page shows them as logos.

## What if guests book by phone?

Someone still has to answer the calls. If you want an AI agent to book them, check which reservation systems it supports before you choose between Resy and OpenTable.

- [Maple Pro](https://maple.inc/pricing) books, changes and cancels reservations on OpenTable, at $350/month on monthly billing or $220/month on annual billing. See the [Maple OpenTable checklist](https://maple.inc/integrations/opentable).
- [Slang AI's pricing page](https://www.slang.ai/pricing) lists OpenTable, SevenRooms, Yelp and Fishbowl.
- Yelp's [July 2026 announcement](https://blog.yelp.com/news/yelp-host-voice-ai-adds-opentable-reservations-and-takeout-ordering-for-restaurants/) says Yelp Host books, changes and cancels OpenTable reservations.

None of those three pages names Resy. If you choose Resy and want AI on the phone, ask each phone vendor whether it books into Resy and have it show you a test booking.

## Which should you pick?

1. **Resy Platform:** you want a fixed monthly cost, your guests use Resy or carry Amex cards, and hosts take phone bookings themselves.
2. **Resy powered by Tock:** you sell prepaid tastings, wine dinners or events. Use the worksheet above to choose between Essential and Premium.
3. **OpenTable:** OpenTable's network already sends you many covers, or you want a partner tool, such as an AI phone agent, that books into it.

Whichever you choose, run a busy night on it with your hosts before you move the booking button on your website and Google. Our guide to [your restaurant's listing on Google](https://maple.inc/blog/restaurant-phone-number-google) covers the other details guests see there.

*Published by Maple, which sells AI phone answering that books reservations on OpenTable and does not list a Resy integration. This AI-assisted comparison uses Resy's and OpenTable's own pricing, help and press pages, plus phone vendors' pages. The prepayment example uses a made-up figure. It does not report a test of either system.*
