# SpotOn POS pricing and fees for restaurants

SpotOn's restaurant plans, card rates, hardware, every add-on it prices, the terms you sign, and a two-year cost worked through with labeled assumptions.

SpotOn prints two restaurant plans. The All-In Plan is $0/station per month with card-present fees of 2.79% + $0.20, a 2-year minimum term and processing minimums. POS Essentials is $55/station per month, month-to-month, at 2.45% + $0.15, and you buy the hardware: $750 for a Station 15. Most add-ons cost $20 to $100 a month each.

SpotOn's pricing FAQ says the All-In Plan pays for hardware and software through the higher card rate, and that a monthly processing minimum applies. SpotOn does not print the minimum. The same FAQ says implementation covers the menu build, installation and staff training, and 24/7 support and software updates cost nothing extra. You cannot run SpotOn on your own hardware or tablets.

SpotOn's [point-of-sale terms](https://www.spoton.com/legal/point-of-sale-terms/) (effective December 16, 2019) add a $400 deposit when your application is approved. It is refundable until installation and comes off the hardware cost, and the rest of the hardware, implementation, shipping and tax is charged on install day. Cabling is not included, and cancelling within seven days of a booked install adds a service fee for each install day.

Reporting, the virtual payment terminal, and mobile pay and review come with SpotOn POS at no extra cost. The point-of-sale terms include 1 GB of LTE backup data a month, with overages at $15 per GB.

## Is the Core Bundle cheaper than buying the parts?

Bought one by one, Profit Assist ($100), SpotOn Order ($55) and Marketing Assist ($95) come to $250 a month. The Core Bundle is $50 plus 0.20% of card volume, capped at $200, so it tops out at $250 and costs less below $100,000 a month in card volume. At $30,000 a month it costs $110.

If you want only online ordering, SpotOn Order alone at $55 costs less than the bundle once card volume passes $2,500 a month. Ask whether the $200 ordering setup fee applies inside the bundle.

## What would two years on SpotOn cost? A worked example

Every input below is made up. A full-service restaurant runs two Station 15s and two handhelds, adds the Core Bundle and SpotOn Reserve, and takes $60,000 a month in cards at the table across 1,500 payments. Of those, $6,000 across 150 payments are American Express. It also takes $3,000 a month in phone orders typed in across 100 payments. The example charges the $55 fee on the two stations only, because SpotOn's pricing page does not say whether a handheld counts. It leaves out implementation, cabling, tax, cash and the All-In processing minimum, which SpotOn does not print.

Essentials costs $139.80 a month less here, so the $2,094 of hardware pays back in about 15 months, and two years come out $1,261.20 lower before implementation. Card fees drive the gap: Essentials charges 0.34 points and 5¢ less on each card-present payment other than Amex.

If SpotOn counts each handheld as a station, Essentials adds $110 a month, the monthly saving falls to $29.80, and over two years Essentials costs $1,378.80 more than All-In. Ask SpotOn how it counts stations before you choose a plan.

## What do you owe if you leave or change processor?

SpotOn's [merchant terms](https://www.spoton.com/legal/merchant-terms/) (last updated December 16, 2024) and its point-of-sale terms set these costs:

1. **Months left:** if you end the contract for any reason other than SpotOn's breach, you owe the monthly subscription fees for the months left in the term.
2. **Discounted hardware:** the merchant terms let SpotOn charge the gap between list and discounted price if you leave within two years. The point-of-sale terms say within one year of installation. In the example above, that gap is $886: $245 for each Station 15 and $198 for each handheld.
3. **Rented or leased hardware:** return it within 15 business days of the end, or SpotOn may charge a replacement fee.
4. **Another card processor:** the point-of-sale terms say keeping SpotOn with a different processor costs a $995 conversion fee and doubles your software license cost.
5. **Fee changes:** SpotOn can change any fee with at least 30 days' notice, and you may end the contract before the change takes effect.

SpotOn's legal pages also link its [payments terms](https://www.spoton.com/payments-terms.pdf), a 2019 card-processing agreement from TSYS and First National Bank of Omaha. They set a three-year initial term that renews each year, and let you leave on 30 days' notice with an account closure fee they do not price.
