# Maple Drive-Thru — voice AI that takes the order at the lane

Maple's drive-thru product is a voice AI that takes the order at the lane. It is in early access with a small number of restaurants.

## How it works

1. **A car pulls up.** The Maple unit stands beside the restaurant's existing speaker post. It has its own directional microphone and speaker, so nothing is rewired and headsets keep working.
2. **The guest talks.** Maple takes the order item by item, with the full menu and every modifier, and skips items that are out of stock. It takes orders in many languages.
3. **The guest sees a live cart.** Each item and the running total show on the unit's screen, so mistakes get caught before the window.
4. **The order lands in the POS.** Maple writes it straight into the restaurant's POS (Toast, Square, Clover, SkyTab, Lightspeed and others on the integrations page).
5. **The crew stays in charge.** A one-press kill switch puts the lane back to normal with no AI in the loop. Guests can ask for a person at any time.
