DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub fees for restaurants, plan by plan
By Maple Team · Published
DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub commission plans as each prints them, what the fee covers, and one month of orders priced on every plan.
DoorDash takes 15%, 25% or 30% of each delivery order's subtotal and 6% on pickup. Uber Eats takes 20%, 25% or 30% on delivery and 7% on pickup. Grubhub takes a 5% to 20% marketing commission, plus 10% when its drivers deliver and a card processing fee. Which plan costs least depends on your mix of delivery and pickup.
This page sets out each company's US restaurant plans from its own merchant pages and help center, then prices one made-up month of orders on all nine plans. If you want orders from your own website with no commission, our guide to commission-free online ordering covers the fees that remain there.

What does the commission cover, and what is extra?
- DoorDash: the pricing FAQ says the commission covers your listing and marketing, Dasher delivery, customer support and credit card processing. It says there is no activation, subscription or cancellation fee. Extras are opt-in: a DoorDash tablet at $6 a week after the trial, Promotions and Sponsored Listings. DoorDash's own Online Ordering is commission-free and carries a payment processing fee. DoorDash's partnership plans are for restaurants with 75 or fewer US locations.
- Uber Eats: the help article says the marketplace fee covers couriers, marketing such as discounted delivery for Uber One members, payment processing and insurance. Plus charges an extra 5% on Uber One member orders, and Premium includes those orders at no extra cost. Self-delivery, with your own drivers on the app, is 15%. The article adds that a restaurant on a custom delivery rate saw it rise by 3% on that date, up to a limit of 30%.
- Grubhub: the plans page says its rates do not include payment processing. The profit calculator prints that fee as $0.30 + 3.05%, and the FAQ says it covers card processing and fraud monitoring. Grubhub Delivery starts at 10% of the order and applies only to orders its drivers carry. With your own drivers, Grubhub charges no delivery fee.
What do the apps say about passing costs on?
Each company prints rules on prices and on local fee limits. Read them before you raise menu prices on an app.
- Delivery menu prices. DoorDash's FAQ says you can set different prices for delivery orders, and many restaurants do.
- Pickup prices must match. DoorDash's 6% pickup rate requires DoorDash Pickup prices to match in-store prices. Uber's 7% pickup rate needs proof that in-app pickup prices match in-store prices; without it, pickup costs 10%. Uber's help article says restaurants on its Toast integration are validated through Toast.
- Local caps. Uber's pricing footnotes say fees may differ under local rules. Its Lite plan starts at 15% on delivery in cities such as Seattle, Los Angeles and Washington, DC, and in New York City at 15% on delivery, 5% on pickup and a 3% card processing fee. Grubhub's footnote says fees may change where a jurisdiction limits what it can charge, and its New York City pricing page notes a 2025 city law that changed the fee cap.
- Guest delivery fees. The higher plans buy a lower fee for the guest. DoorDash Plus lists a lower customer delivery fee on non-DashPass orders. Uber Plus shows your store with a lower delivery fee, and Premium with the lowest available. Grubhub's plans run from a standard to the lowest customer delivery fee.
Which plan costs least on one month of orders?
The restaurant below is made up. In one month it gets 300 delivery orders at a $30 average subtotal ($9,000) and 100 pickup orders at $25 ($2,500), so $11,500 in subtotals across 400 orders. Pickup prices match in-store prices. For Uber Plus, a quarter of delivery sales come from Uber One members. Grubhub drivers carry the Grubhub deliveries, and we apply Grubhub's processing fee to subtotals, though your statement may use the order total with tax. The month is past every intro offer, and it leaves out tablets, ads, promotions and refunds.
| Plan | How the fee adds up | Monthly fees and share of $11,500 |
|---|---|---|
| DoorDash Basic | DoorDash Basic sum: $1,350 delivery + $150 pickup | DoorDash Basic total: $1,500.00, 13.0% |
| DoorDash Plus | DoorDash Plus sum: $2,250 + $150 | DoorDash Plus total: $2,400.00, 20.9% |
| DoorDash Premier | DoorDash Premier sum: $2,700 + $150 | DoorDash Premier total: $2,850.00, 24.8% |
| Uber Eats Lite | Uber Lite sum: $1,800 delivery + $175 pickup | Uber Lite total: $1,975.00, 17.2% |
| Uber Eats Plus | Uber Plus sum: $2,250 + $175 + $112.50 extra on Uber One orders | Uber Plus total: $2,537.50, 22.1% |
| Uber Eats Premium | Uber Premium sum: $2,700 + $175 | Uber Premium total: $2,875.00, 25.0% |
| Grubhub Basic | Grubhub Basic sum: $575 commission + $900 delivery + $470.75 processing | Grubhub Basic total: $1,945.75, 16.9% |
| Grubhub Plus | Grubhub Plus sum: $1,725 + $900 + $470.75 | Grubhub Plus total: $3,095.75, 26.9% |
| Grubhub All-access | Grubhub All-access sum: $2,300 + $900 + $470.75 | Grubhub All-access total: $3,670.75, 31.9% |
Grubhub's processing line is 3.05% of $11,500 ($350.75) plus 30¢ on 400 orders ($120). On these orders, the cheapest plan on each app is its lowest tier, and the gap to the top tier is $1,350 on DoorDash, $900 on Uber Eats and $1,725 on Grubhub. The top tiers sell reach and lower guest delivery fees, so the test is whether they bring enough extra orders to cover that gap.
Your pickup share also moves the sum. On DoorDash and Uber Eats, an order that switches from delivery to pickup drops from a delivery rate of 15% to 30% to a pickup rate of 6% or 7%. At a $30 subtotal on DoorDash Plus, one order costs $7.50 as a delivery and $1.80 as a pickup.
What should you check before you pick a plan?
- Pull three months of app orders and split them into delivery and pickup, with the average subtotal of each.
- Price each plan with your own numbers, the way the table above does, before any intro rate.
- Log in to each merchant portal and confirm the rate that applies to your city. Uber's help article points to the Payouts section of Uber Eats Manager.
- Match your pickup prices to your in-store menu, and send Uber proof, so pickup stays at 6% or 7%.
- Decide whether delivery prices on the apps will differ from your menu, and check each app's current rules first.
- Ask each company, in writing, whether its fee is taken on the subtotal or the total, and whether card processing is inside it.
- Try a plan for a few weeks before you switch. DoorDash says a plan change takes up to five business days.
Phone orders are another route to the same guests. Maple Pro takes phone orders into supported POS systems for a flat plan price, listed on the pricing page at $350 a month billed monthly or $220 a month billed yearly.
