TouchBistro POS pricing and fees for restaurants

By Maple Team · Published

Every price and fee TouchBistro prints, how its card processing and agreement work, and a worked month with labeled assumptions.

TouchBistro prints two prices: Point of Sale starting at $69/month, with hardware, payment processing and other fees on top, and the Essentials Bundle starting at $119/month, which includes hardware. Card processing, every add-on and your contract term come from the Sales Quote you sign.

This page covers only what TouchBistro costs and what you sign: each price and fee it prints, how card processing is billed, the agreement terms, and a month worked through with labeled assumptions. What the POS does, what works offline and what to test sit in our separate TouchBistro POS review. Prices are for the United States.

The plan prices, add-on list and support terms come from TouchBistro's pricing page. The kitchen screen, online ordering and reservation terms come from the KDS page, the online ordering page and the reservations page. The DoorDash fee sits on the integrations page, and the late-payment terms in the Merchant Terms of Use.

Two TouchBistro pages disagree on hardware payment plans. The pricing FAQ says TouchBistro offers hardware financing for venues with two or more terminals. The hardware page FAQ says it does not offer hardware payment plans. Ask which applies to you, and get it on the quote.

How does TouchBistro price card processing?

TouchBistro prints no card rate. Its TouchBistro Payments page describes a cost plus pricing model and says the service is for US customers only. Its payment processing page says its payment partners set a custom rate after looking at your credit history, sales volume and other factors. Ask for the markup on top of card-brand costs as a percentage and a per-payment fee, in writing.

  • Deposits: next business day if you bank with Chase. With other banks, the TouchBistro Payments page says 1 to 4 business days.
  • Processors: TouchBistro's help article on supported payment processor integrations lists TouchBistro Payments, Chase US and TSYS for the United States. TouchBistro Payments is not offered in US territories such as Puerto Rico and Guam.
  • Bar tabs: the same article says closing a bar tab without a card swipe or dip may come with a higher fee.
  • Who answers statement questions: the payment processing page sends questions about charges, missing funds, chargebacks and statements to your payment processor.
  • Surcharges: the terms make you alone responsible for whether a surcharge is legal where you operate.

What does the agreement say?

TouchBistro's Merchant Terms of Use, effective March 31, 2026, sit under your Sales Quote. Where the two conflict, the Sales Quote wins.

  1. Start of billing: software fees start on the Effective Date, the earlier of your go-live date and the Outside Payment Date in your quote.
  2. Refunds: prepaid license, subscription and professional services fees, including installation and training, are non-refundable.
  3. Term and renewal: the Sales Quote sets the Initial Term. It renews for a period of the same length unless either side gives written notice at least 30 days before the term ends.
  4. Leaving early: you may not end the agreement before the term ends. If you default, you owe the software license and hardware fees, and other amounts including payment processing fees, that would have been payable for the rest of the term. You also repay any incentive in full.
  5. iPads: on default, TouchBistro may remotely disable iPads you are paying for under a hardware payment plan, and iPads that came with a hardware incentive if the default falls in the Initial Term.
  6. Fee changes: unless your Sales Quote says otherwise, fees can change on 30 days' written notice. Object in writing before the change and you may cancel at the end of your term, paying the old fees until then.
  7. Disputes: Ontario law applies, and claims go to individual arbitration in Toronto, with no jury and no class action.

What would a month on TouchBistro cost? A worked example

Every input below is made up. One full-service location takes the Essentials Bundle at its $119 starting price. It takes $60,000 a month in card sales across 1,200 payments at $50 each. TouchBistro prints no rate, so the example assumes a cost plus quote: card-brand costs averaging 2.0% of sales, plus a markup of 0.30% + 10¢ per payment. Kitchen screens, reservations and online ordering stay out because their prices are not printed.

LineAssumed inputMonthly cost
Essentials BundleStarting priceBundle line: $119.00
Card-brand costs$60,000 at an assumed 2.0%Card-brand line: $1,200.00
Processing markup$60,000 at an assumed 0.30%, plus 1,200 payments at 10¢Markup line: $300.00
Add-onsNot printedFrom your quote
TotalBefore add-ons and taxTotal: $1,619.00

Card processing comes to $1,500, or 2.5% of card sales, and 93% of the month shown. Each 0.1 point on the markup moves this month by $60, or $720 a year. Twelve such months come to $19,428.

Point of Sale at $69 costs $50 a month less than the Essentials Bundle and leaves you to supply the hardware. Over an assumed 24-month term that gap is $1,200, so the $69 plan comes out ahead only if the hardware you buy costs less than that, before any difference in card rate.

Now suppose the Sales Quote sets a 24-month Initial Term and the restaurant defaults after month 10. The bundle fees left are 14 × $119, or $1,666. The terms also count processing fees for the rest of the term without saying how. At this example's figures, the markup alone would add 14 × $300, or $4,200, and the full card line 14 × $1,500, or $21,000. Ask TouchBistro which figure it would use. If the restaurant stays, the agreement renews for another 24 months unless you give notice 30 days before month 24 ends.

A $1,619 balance paid a month late accrues $32.38 at 2%. A $40 order through the DoorDash Online Ordering integration costs $1.16 plus $0.30, or $1.46, in processing.

What should you get in writing before you sign?

  1. The monthly price of each add-on you want, per location and per screen or device.
  2. Your card rate as card-brand cost plus markup, for tapped, typed-in and American Express payments.
  3. Which processor you would use, and a copy of its agreement.
  4. Whether hardware is bought outright, financed or included in the bundle, and whether any part counts as an incentive you would repay.
  5. The Initial Term, the Outside Payment Date, and the last day to give 30 days' notice before renewal.
  6. How TouchBistro would count processing fees in the Default Amount.
  7. Installation, training and menu setup fees, since prepaid fees are non-refundable.

To set these costs beside other systems over three years, see what a restaurant POS costs and our Toast POS pricing guide. If you plan to take phone orders with AI, Maple's integrations list shows which POS systems Maple sends orders into, and TouchBistro is not among them.

Published by Maple. This AI-assisted guide combines TouchBistro's own US pricing, product, payments, integrations and terms pages and its help center with an original worked example using made-up sales, an assumed card rate and an assumed term. It does not include a quote from TouchBistro, and it does not claim anyone tested TouchBistro products.
