“We do average about 95 calls a day, and over 100, you know, on the weekends.”Lisa, Mootz Pizzeria + BarWith Maple: those calls answered, and about 21 hours a week off the phone for the team.
A downtown pizzeria that had stopped taking phone orders
Mootz Pizzeria + Bar serves pizza and drinks on Library Street in downtown Detroit. Around the dining room it runs carryout, catering, boxed lunches and reservations, and most of that starts with a phone call.
The volume was the problem. Lisa told Maple in June that Mootz averages about 95 calls a day, and more than 100 on weekends, and that many of them only want to know how long the wait is: “we have so many people call and say, ‘What’s the wait time? What’s the wait time?’”
Taking orders by phone tied up the staff, so Mootz had stopped. Callers who wanted to order were offered a link to the website instead, and it rarely went well. In Lisa’s words: “we get either a hang up or, ‘No, I want to talk to somebody.’”

Phone orders came back, paid before pickup
Mootz asked for two things: phone orders back, paid before pickup (“we want them to pay before they come, when they order”), and the wait-time questions answered without anyone leaving the floor.
Maple now answers those calls and takes each order into Toast so it prints in the kitchen with everything else. The team only picks up the calls Maple passes to them.
About 3,500 phone orders a year, and a model for the next stores
At its pace so far, Maple takes about 3,500 phone orders a year for Mootz, worth about $138,000. The calls it answers add up to about 21 hours a week that nobody at Mootz spends on the phone.
Maple Pro costs $350 a month, so those phone orders come to about 32 times what Mootz pays for it. Tony described Library Street as the first step: “We’re gonna start here,” with pizzerias he has in Monroe to follow, “up to five or six.”
Yearly figures are rounded and carry the restaurant’s pace on Maple so far over twelve months; they come from Maple’s call and order records and do not forecast future orders. The multiple divides those phone-order sales by Maple Pro at $350 a month; it is sales, not profit. Quotes come from Mootz’s recorded sales calls with Maple in June 2026.
